Art – whether creating it or simply observing it – is a relaxing and inspiring activity. Studies suggest, however, that the benefits of art go far beyond just enjoyment. Artistic expression has proven to offer significant value in the recovery process for substance disorders, especially for those suffering from depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress.
IBH Addiction Recovery uses art and creative writing in the healing process to encourage those in recovery to expand how they convey ideas and emotions, process complex feelings and, ultimately, find relief. IBH Addiction Recovery has collected the written works and art created by individuals undergoing their healing journey at our campuses and have published Fruits of Imperfection.
Fruits of Imperfection is published in the spirit of embracing the imperfect and learning to appreciate all that it has to offer us. The volume can be purchased at our Fall into Recovery event or by using the link below. Proceeds benefit the expressive arts and education programs at IBH Addiction Recovery.
